Image from the webcam errors
There are a few error messages that you may see if something goes wrong during the system check:
- Webcam not found.
- No image from the webcam.
- Webcam check is too long.
Webcam not found
Possible reasons:
- a web camera is blocked in browser settings,
- a web camera is removed, not connected or malfunctioning,
- a web camera access is blocked by the antivirus software.
Perform the following steps:
- Make sure that the camera is allowed in the browser.
- Allow camera access if it is blocked:
- Examine if the right camera is selected in the browser.
In Google Chrome, the settings page is as follows:
chrome://settings/content/camera
- Examine if the right camera is selected in Device Manager .
Additionally, the camera can be examined for any malfunctions. Use the following website for testing purposes: https://webcammictest.com/ - Update the camera driver in Device Manager:
No image from the webcam
Possible reasons:
Perform the following steps:
- Make sure that the camera is not covered.
- Add more lightning in the room.
- Examine if the camera broadcasts correctly in other softwares.
- Disable antivirus softwares that may block the image.
Additionally, the camera can be examined for any malfunctions. Use the following website for testing purposes: https://webcammictest.com/
After you change settings, you need to reload the page and repeat the system check.
Webcam check is too long
If the webcam check takes more than one minute, it can be considered as an error.
Possible reasons:
- There is an app or apps using your webcam during the system check.
Close other apps that may occupy your webcam. - There is another tab opened where your webcam is used (i.e. online conference call).
Close other tabs in your browser. - Access to your webcam is not allowed.
Allow webcam access on the exam page. (Windows/macOS) - Browser control is enabled in your antivirus.
Stop this in your antivirus untill your exam is over.
After this, you may need re-launch your browser and re-start the system check.
